Clinical Supervision & Reflective Practice
Individual Clinical Supervision

Space to reflect on your practice.

Clinical supervision for trainee and qualified practitioners working with children and young people.

Supervision offers you a space to explore your work through conversation, reflection and creative approaches. Together, we consider what is happening, notice patterns and explore the needs of both the child and the practitioner.

In supervision, we can take time to develop understanding and explore what is not yet clear, without rushing to find an answer. Uncertainty, discomfort and stuck points can be explored with curiosity and constructive challenge. The aim is to support thoughtful, reflective clinical practice and continuing development.

What the work can include

Clinical understanding

Making sense of a child’s experiences, relationships and development, including their family life and the circumstances around them. This can include attachment, trauma, neurodivergence, play and creative expression.

The practitioner in the work

Relational dynamics, emotional responses, confidence, boundaries, the impact of demanding clinical work, and continued growth and development.

Decisions and responsibility

Safeguarding, risk, confidentiality, ethical dilemmas, endings and working with families, schools and other professionals.

A working relationship

Together, we agree what you need from supervision and regularly review how it is working, with space to talk openly about our supervisory relationship.

Who is supervision for?

Supervision is available to trainee and qualified counsellors and psychotherapists, supporting their clinical development and ethical practice. We discuss your role, training, experience and professional requirements to agree the right support.

Can supervision take place online?

Yes. Supervision is available online. In-person sessions in Brighton and Hove may also be arranged, subject to availability. Sessions at your organisation’s premises can be arranged, with fees agreed in advance.

How long are sessions?

Standard individual supervision sessions are 50 minutes. Group arrangements depend on the number of participants. Frequency depends on your work and professional requirements.

Can my organisation fund supervision?

Yes. Organisation-funded arrangements need clear agreements about roles, confidentiality, safeguarding and any feedback to the organisation.
